Here, we introduce you to the perfect present for your child’s first birthday or Christmas – the 4-in-1 My First Trike; a versatile toy exclusive to Argos with various settings to suit children from nine months to five years old.

What makes this trike so special?

Finding toys for a one year old can be fun, but also tricky as they quickly grow up. With four different settings, our innovative 4-in-1 trike is designed to stay with your child from ages one to five, developing key skills along the way. Each mode of the trike has its own purpose in regards to your child’s growth and joins them on an important journey through their early years. But what does each stage offer?

The first setting of the 4-in-1 My First Trike is a stroller. Using the detachable ‘parent handle’, your child will become more familiar with the position they will take when they start to ride on their own. The waist bar and footrest to keep your child sitting comfortably and safely as they enjoy outdoor play.

At 12 months, the 4-in-1 trike takes its second setting, giving your child their first sense of control. Removing the waist bar, you can now invite your child to take the handlebars and steer. This will not only build strength and coordination in their arms, but provide them with a huge sense of achievement and responsibility as they decide which way to go. The handle is still attached at this stage, so you can still push and guide them as they learn.

Once their little arms have learned how to steer, the 4-in-1 trike takes on its third setting and gets their legs working. Keeping the handle attached, you can remove the footrest and encourage your child to try and pedal while you push. The coordination needed to move their legs in a pedalling motion is tricky and might take some time to develop. Be patient and savour this stage – you’ll soon miss the days when they needed you to push.

Once your child is 30 months old, they should have a firm grip on the handles and a good idea of how to pedal. You can finally detach the push bar and let them ride around on their own for the very first time. You can watch, follow, and cheer as they joyously ride along, stabilised by the two rear wheels and enriched by their independence, achievement and responsibility.

Your child’s early years are an important stage of their growth and development. Whether it’s physical attributes, such as balance, strength and coordination, or emotional qualities, like confidence, joy and achievement, the 4-in-1 My First Trike helps build them all. Staying with your child from nine months to five years old, this is the gift that keeps giving and the perfect first birthday or Christmas present.
